The lead scientist in the original was a guy trying to "domesticate" the zombies so they would pose no threat to the living. Bloodline does stand out though, but for all the wrong reasons. Full of illogical character choices, poor acting and disappointing visual effects, Day Of The Dead: Bloodline is a poorly made zombie film that feels like a budget flick, despite the respectable budget of 8 million this film somehow uses.

From what I understood, Day of the Dead Bloodline is supposed to be a remake of Day of the Dead (1985). Now I must state for the record that I am not a fan of remakes as they usually fall flat, and I can't understand the need for them in the first place, and it shows a lack of originality as well.

As if the 2008 remake of Day of the Dead wasn't bad enough, someone gets it in their head that fans were looking for another filmmaker to take a crack at the source material (they were wrong). After a long and much delayed development process, the movie finally hit VOD recently and to a slew of mostly negative reviews (and justifiably so). Day of the Dead: Bloodline tries to update the classic with a 'Me Too' angle and the results are mixed, but the classic zombie carnage makes up for it.

I’m not sure what it is about the Day of the Dead storyline that jars so much. On paper, it boasts an interesting premise of science vs state.
